Training

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Private Pilot. Savannah Aviation is able to provide instruction and flight training to meet your schedule. Under FAA Regulations part 61, a person is required to meet the following requirements.

  • Birth Certificate and picture ID or valid passport.
  • Must be at least 17 years old.
  • Must be able to read, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must obtain at least a third class medical certificate.
  • Must complete 40 hours flight time.
  • Must successfully pass a written exam and flight test.
You will receive your training in our two seat Cessna 150 Aerobat. You will be thoroughly familiar with the Aerobat and will be able to rent it for future flights. We also have 3 Cessna 172 S models with 180 horsepower engines and King KLN 94 GPSs(Global Positioning Systems).

The length of time needed to complete this course will vary according to weather and your available time for training. Each instruction period lasting about 2 hours will consist of flight instruction, ground school, and homework. Our school now features Cessna’s CBI (Computer based instruction). Text and workbooks have been converted to CD ROMs. Instructors now track a student’s progress via computer.
