Training
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Private Pilot. Savannah Aviation is able to provide you with the real world experience and hands on flight instruction that you need to become the safest pilot you can be.
Under FAA Regulations part 61, a person is required to meet the following requirements.
- Birth Certificate and picture ID or valid passport.
- Must be at least 17 years old.
- Must be able to read, speak and understand the English language.
- Must obtain at least a third class medical certificate.
- Must complete 40 hours flight time.
- Must successfully pass a written exam and flight test.
You can receive your flight training in any one of our professionally maintained aircraft or we can train you in your own aircraft. You will be thoroughly familiar with the aircraft you are training in and will be able to rent it for future solo flights. All of our aircraft are equipped with state of the art GPS navigation systems and most have on board weather capabilities.
The length of time needed to complete your flight training will vary according to the weather and your available time for training. Each two hour instruction period will consist of flight instruction, ground school, and homework. Our school features Cessna’s Computer Based Instruction (CBI) kits. Text and workbooks have been converted to CD ROMs. Instructors now track a student’s progress via computer.
