CHRISTIAN RUSHING
Chief Flight Instructor
CFI, CFII, MEI, ATP, TCI

Christian was born and raised in Savannah and went to high school in nearby Richmond Hill.  He is a Navy veteran having served four years as an air traffic controller before pursuing his true love as a pilot and flight instructor.  Christian is Savannah Aviation's first and only qualified Airline Transport Pilot with a tailwheel endorsement.  His hobbies include flying for fun and spending time with family.

SIMON REED 
CFI, CFII, CSIP

Simon was born and grew up in the southwest of England before joining the Royal Air Force and working on Tornado GR4’s for 6 years. He left the Air Force pursued a career for 13 years with Gulfstream in the London and Savannah in a variety or positions obtaining his EASA licenses and FAA A&P / IA. Simon turned his passion for aviation to flying and now enjoys teaching as a CFI. His hobbies include building an RV 10 and being out on the water.

HALEY RAE 
CFI, CFII

Haley Rae grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and always wanted to be a pilot. She attended Middle Tennessee State University where she earned a degree in Aerospace moved down to Savannah for a fun change and different scenery. Haley also loves to play golf and is a member of the Women in Aviation professional networking organization.

LANDON AUD
CFI, CFII, TCI

Landon moved to the Savannah area from her hometown of Richmond, Virginia where she earned her private, instrument, commercial, multi engine, and instructor ratings.  She has been flying for about 4 years and is looking forward to opportunities in commercial aviation and even the airlines.  She is an avid gardening and when she is not at the airport, she can be found walking her dog at the beach or nearby parks.

CORY HOLLOWAY
CFI

 Cory is from Richmond, VA and earned his private, instrument, commercial, multi engine, and instructor ratings at nearby Hanover Airport.  His goal is to eventually transition to the airlines and looks forward to travel opportunities across the country. Before flying, he was in the United States Air Force for 4 years doing aircraft structural maintenance stationed at Yokota Air Base Japan and Shaw Air Force Base, SC.  He enjoys golfing, the beach, and other outdoor activities.

CHRIS BROCK
CFI, CFII

Chris was born in Bethesda, Maryland and moved to Georgia when he was 16.  He became interested in aviation while studying at Kennesaw State University and started his flight training after graduating in 2017.  Chris has goals of flying for the airlines before moving on to cargo operations.  When he isn’t flying, he enjoys going to the beach and spending time outdoors.

MASON CROSBY
CFI

Mason is from Adel, Georgia and began flying in 2019.  He has  been a CFI for 2 and a half years teaching in Adel while  attending Liberty University online where he received a bachelor of science in aviation (professional pilot).  Mason aspires to become an airline pilot and enjoys playing golf as well as hunting and fishing in his free time.

John Twibell
CFI, CFII, MEI, TCI

John is originally from Phoenix, Arizona.  He graduated from the United States Naval Academy and attended training in Pensacola, Florida becoming a Naval Flight Officer.  He flew on board P3 Orion, submarine hunters, tracking submarines as a Weapons / Tactics officer.  He currently works in Research and Development at Gulfstream.  John has always had a passion for aviation and especially navigation.  John has been flight instructing at Savannah Aviation since 2020, where he earned his CFI, CFII, MEI and TCI.)

ANDREW QUIRION
CFI

Andrew is a native of Savannah, Ga. After his time in the Air Force as a Nondestructive Inspection technician, he moved back home to work at Gulfstream and pursue a lifelong passion for flying. He is an Alumni of Liberty University’s School of Aeronautics and an avid member of RTAG - The Veteran to Aviation Charity Group. He enjoys grilling, being near the water, watching the Dawgs play football, and introducing people to the wonder of flight.

Colman Aucoin
CFI

Colman grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, until the age of 7 before moving to Cork, Ireland, where he spent 11 formative years. Joining the Coast Guard in 2014 at 24, he served as an Avionics Electrical Technician on MH-60 helicopters, earning his A&P before leaving the military in 2020.

​

Transitioning to civilian life, he began flight school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 2020, completing an Associates degree in flight training from Gateway Technical College in 2022. Moving to Savannah in 2023, he became a First Officer for a small cargo company flying a Shorts 360 for UPS.

​

In December of 2023, he obtained his CFI, transitioning into a full-time role at SAV Ave, dividing his time between maintenance and flight school. Looking forward, he's set to marry in October 2024 in Tybee.

Casey Reeves

Originally from Michigan, Casey's aviation journey took flight at Northwestern Michigan College in 2020, culminating in his graduation in 2023. With aspirations set high, Casey aims to soar into the ranks of airline pilots, with an ultimate dream of navigating the skies for professional athletes.

Outside the cockpit, Casey thrives on staying active and engaged. Whether it's spending quality time with friends and family, hitting the links for a round of golf, or immersing himself in the excitement of sports, Casey embraces life with boundless energy and enthusiasm.

CHANDLER NEW 
Assistant Chief Flight Instructor
CFI, CFII, MEI

Chandler was born and raised in Savannah, GA. He recently moved back to Savannah to instruct after graduating from Georgia College with a Management Information Systems degree. Chandler started his flight training in 2020 while working as an airport lineman in Milledgeville, GA. In his free time, Chandler loves to hangout with his friends, be outdoors, and watch sports. Chandler wants to eventually fly with Gulfstream as a test pilot.

SYDNEY SULLY

Sydney was born and raised in Claxton, GA and graduated with a mathematics degree from Georgia Southern University.  Her  grandfather was in the Air Force which sparked her interest in aviation.  Sydney earned her CFI, CFII, and MEI certificates at ATP in Jacksonville came back to the Savannah area to be closer to family.  her goals are to fly corporate or with United Airlines and being able to travel internationally visiting every European country.

TIZI BERNARD
CFI, CFII, IGI, TCI

Tiziano "Tizi" Bernard was born and raised in Trieste, Italy and moved to the U.S. in 2011.  He was trained at Florida Tech, earning degrees in aerospace engineering, flight test engineering, and cognitive engineering.  He is an avionics specialist, having designed flight decks at the Human-Centered Design Institute and at GARMIN International. He works “next door” at Gulfstream as an experimental flight test engineer and as a professor with Embry-Riddle.  Follow him on instagram and YouTube @FlyWithTizi!

NEAL STEINWINDER
CFI

Neal grew up in Laurel, MS and attended school at Mississippi State University earning a degree in Aerospace Engineering. While in college he received his Private Pilot Certificate and has been flying ever since. He moved to Savannah in 2018 to work as a Certification Engineer at Gulfstream Aerospace, where he still works today. In 2022 he became a Flight Instructor and looks forward to teaching the next generation of pilots.

MADDIE BENNETT

Maddie was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Aviation Management. Maddie started flying in 2020 in Montgomery Alabama and earned her Commercial and CFI rating at Savannah Aviation.  In her free time, she likes to travel, play golf, and explore the many food options that Savannah has to offer.  Her long term goal is to be a corporate pilot flying on an international scale.

Cody was born and raised in Richmond, TX and started flying in 2018.  He earned his flight instructor certificate at the beginning of 2021 and moved to Savannah where he now resides as a flight instructor with Savannah Aviation.  In his free time he enjoys rock climbing and going to the beach with his family.

Peter Wier
CFI

Peter learned to fly during college in Arizona over 30 years ago while preparing for a professional flying career. After teaching for a few years in the Atlanta area, he flew for a (now-defunct) regional airline in the Northeast US, rising to be a captain, instructor and check airman on regional jets. He then moved into corporate flying, flying for a large US fractional company, then moving overseas to fly a corporate aircraft in China for about 5 years. He now flies (and teaches simulators for) a big Boeing for a US long-haul cargo company as a full-time job, but loves to get back to the basics and teach students in a C172 with Savannah Aviation too. Peter lives on St Simons Island, and teaches out of the SSI airport.

PAYTON RICE
CFI

Payton grew up on Topsail Island on the southeast coast of North Carolina. He received his bachelors in aeronautics and completed his flight training at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he was also a member of the baseball team. His future goals are to eventually fly cargo operations and travel as much as he can. In his free time he enjoys golfing and going to the beach with friends.

HENRY HALE
CFI

Hailing from the charming city of Savannah, our skilled aviator pursued comprehensive flight training exclusively at Savannah Aviation. Henry's primary passion in flying lies in the captivating experience of gazing beyond the aircraft, relishing the unique perspective of a bird's-eye view to connect with and appreciate the beauty of our environment.

Shane Gurganus

Shane moved from New Bern, NC when he was young when his love of aviation really set in. He finally decided to make his dream a reality and obtain his PPL, Instrument, Commercial, and Instructor ratings in hopes of a career with the airlines. When Shane is not at Savannah Aviation, you can find him at his other job as a Firefighter for Bloomingdale Fire Department or at the airport watching airplanes take off and land.
